Had a customer in Phoenix who refused to believe his computer was just dusty.
He brought in a gaming rig that kept shutting off, convinced it was a virus. I opened it up and showed him the quarter-inch thick dust mat on the CPU cooler. He looked me dead in the eye and said, 'That can't be it, I paid $2000 for this thing, it should just work.' I cleaned it for free, booted it up, and it ran fine. Ever have a client just REFUSE the simple fix?

A quarter inch of dust really shuts down a whole computer?

What, you've never seen a dust bunny take a system hostage? My own laptop once sounded like a jet engine because I forgot the vents exist... it was basically a fuzzy space heater.

Remember when people used to just smack the side of the TV to fix it? This feels like that but with extra steps. My cousin swore his new phone was broken because it got slow, turns out he had like 500 browser tabs open. Sometimes the fix is so dumb it feels wrong.
