Showerthought: I saw a 90% drop in 'my computer is slow' tickets after we switched all our business clients to SSDs from HDDs over the last two years.

Some techs argue the cost isn't worth it for basic office work, but I think the time saved on support calls and re-imaging old drives more than pays for the upgrade, so what's your take on pushing SSDs as the new standard for every machine?

Yeah, the part about the drop in support tickets is so real. I mean, we did the same thing at my last job, just swapping out old drives for cheap SSDs on machines that were otherwise fine. The difference in how long it took to do anything was night and day. People just stopped complaining about boot times or programs hanging. It felt like we were actually fixing the problem instead of just putting out the same fires over and over. The upfront cost is nothing compared to getting your time back.

My old boss at a small clinic refused to approve SSD upgrades for years, said the spinning drives were "fine for Word." We finally tracked the hours, and just one tech was spending about 15 a month on slow PC complaints and re-imaging those old drives. That math finally changed his mind. It's exactly what @viola84 said about getting your time back, the ticket drop is real. The standard should be an SSD for any machine that a person has to sit and wait on.

Absolutely! That's the only way to get through to some people. You have to show them the real cost of doing nothing. Once they see the hours wasted, it's a no brainer.
