Why does nobody talk about fixing family tech for free all the time

Every single visit home turns into a free service call for me. My mom called yesterday because her internet was slow and I had to walk her through router reset over the phone. My brother just drops off his gaming PC with no warning and expects it done by the weekend. I missed my kid's school play last month dealing with a cousin's data recovery emergency. They never offer to pay or even say thanks most of the time. It makes me dread family events now because I know what's coming.

Been there with the whole family tech support trap. Started telling people I only do simple fixes during business hours, like weekdays after six. For anything bigger like data recovery, I give them a local shop's number. Funny how they figure things out fast when you're not the easy button. What's the one thing you keep getting asked to fix most often?

What's the worst for you, the constant printer problems or the forgotten passwords? I had to do the same thing and only offer quick help on weekdays. My mom used to call me every time her internet dropped, but after I said I'd charge for house calls, she magically learned to restart the router. Now I get mostly simple stuff like reconnecting Bluetooth devices, which is fine. Anything bigger than that and I send them to the pros.
