Side by side test on two concrete sealers surprised me

I tried a water based sealer on one half of a patio and a solvent based on the other half last month. The water based one started peeling after just 3 weeks while the solvent based still looks perfect through some heavy rain. Has anyone else had better luck with solvent based sealers for outdoor flatwork?

You'd think water based would hold up better, not worse. Solvent based always works better for flatwork in my experience.

I get what you're saying about solvent based for flatwork, but I see it different. I've had water based sealers hold up way longer on my driveway, no peeling or yellowing like the solvent stuff did after a year or two. Maybe it depends on the brand or how you prep it, but I'm sticking with water based for now.
