My friend pointed out I was only reading the 'debunk' articles
I mean, I'd see a wild theory online and instantly google 'why X is fake' to feel smart. He said, 'You're just picking your side first, not actually debating.' Now I try to read the original claim fully before anything else. Anyone else get stuck in that loop?

My old debate coach said the same thing.

Honestly, I have to disagree. Looking up the debunk first is just being smart. Most of those wild claims are total garbage from the start. Why waste time giving them a full read when a quick check shows they're built on nothing? Your friend's method sounds nice, but it just means you spend more time on junk.

My cousin spent three days on a flat earth video before checking, @the_margaret, and honestly it was kind of funny.
