Warning: That guy with the clipboard at the gas station near 5th Street might be casing your neighborhood
Last Thursday I stopped for coffee at the Marathon on 5th and a man in an orange vest approached me asking about 'street cleaning schedules.' He had a clipboard with a printed map of my block, each house marked with a circled number. I told him I didn't live nearby, but he kept pushing, asking if I'd seen any 'delivery trucks parked overnight.' It only clicked later when I saw a similar vest discarded two streets over with no city logo. My neighbor's garage was broken into that same weekend, nothing taken but tools gone. I've checked, the city has no such surveyor on file. So if a stranger with a route list asks you about routines, don't answer. Has anyone else had this happen at a station or store in their area?

Ha, joke's on him, I'd have to actually know my street cleaning schedule first, and I'm pretty sure my block just waits for the trash to pile up and hopes for the best. But seriously, the clipboard and vest combo is smart, nobody questions a guy in a vest.
