I quit doing custom cake orders in the summer heat and switched to pickup only, best call I ever made
Last June I lost two orders in one weekend because buttercream slumped during a 25 minute drive across Fort Worth, and a bride's mom wanted a refund on the spot. I nearly quit doing cakes at all. Then I changed one thing: customers pick up at my house in a 90 minute window and I hand them a printed sheet saying keep it flat and in the AC. Zero melted cakes since, and I actually got 3 new orders from people who liked not paying a delivery fee. Anyone else drop delivery and never look back?
