Can we talk about keeping the boom in tight when you're swinging over a crew?
Honestly I got chewed out by a site super about 4 months ago on a job over in Tacoma and it still bugs me because he was dead right. I had a 60 ton set up pouring a foundation and I kept my boom way out there because it was more comfortable to see the pour, plus radio contact was spotty so I figured a wider angle helped. He walked over after and said straight up, "You're swinging a 90 foot radius over four guys who can't see you, tighten it up or shut it down." I was ticked off at first but then I actually stood on the ground and watched the next guy run his machine and I got it. At that radius my swing brake alone would eat up most of the reaction time and those guys down there had zero chance to bail. Since then I pull in as tight as the chart allows, even if it means creeping the machine or using a spotter, and I eat the slower cycle. Anyone else had a super call them out and it turned out they were right?
