Took me 3 hours to realize my swing brake was barely dragging

I spent a whole morning thinking my crane was losing power on the hoist, turned out the swing brake was just barely engaged and dragging. Anyone else ever waste half a shift on a stupid little adjustment?

Skip all the obvious mechanical stuff and think about this - how many other things are you probably missing because you got tunnel vision on the "big" problem? I've seen crews tear down a whole hydraulic system only to find a clogged filter the size of a pea. Sometimes the dumb little adjustments are the ones that save your ass from major downtime.

The filter thing isn't really the same kind of oversight though. A dragging brake is a lot easier to catch than a pea sized clog in a filter.
