After a breach, I ditched my password manager for pen and paper
I used a popular password app until it got hacked and my login details were leaked. Now I write all my passwords in a notebook stored in a locked desk, which I think is more secure. Most online guides say this is bad, but I haven't had any problems. Do others find digital security tools more trouble than they're worth?

After the LastPass breach, I get why you trust a locked desk more. But wait until you need a password while traveling and your notebook is at home! Digital leaks are bad, but so is being locked out of your own accounts.

Funny how that exact fear pushed me to digital tools in the first place. I was a total convert until the LastPass news hit. Now the idea of a hack feels way worse than forgetting a password. You can always reset a login, but you can't take back stolen data. So the locked desk is looking pretty good these days, travel panic or not.

Digital tools feel like putting all your eggs in one hackable basket. A locked notebook at least gives you physical control over the risk. There's no perfect answer, just your own comfort with different kinds of hassle.
