I finally told the guy at my barbershop his $200 knife was overkill and he just smiled
I was sitting in the chair at Ray's on 5th getting a cut when he pulled out a fancy flipper knife to open a box of clippers. I said I carry a $12 folding box cutter from the hardware store and it does everything his does. He stopped cutting, held up the blade, and said "I've had this one for 9 years and it's opened 4,000 boxes and never once slipped." That number stuck with me because I've gone through 3 cheap knives in the same stretch of time. So now I'm wondering, does anyone here actually track how long their cheap knife lasts before it quits?
