I used to clip every Market Basket coupon in the flyer until a cashier in Concord called me out
So for about 2 years I was that person with a fat envelope of clipped coupons every Sunday trip to the Concord Market Basket. One day the cashier scanned my stack and said, very nicely, that most of the paper coupons I was cutting were already loaded to my MB Reward card and I was basically doing homework for nothing. I checked my last 6 receipts and found I had only saved $4.10 with paper that a digital clip would have done anyway. Now I clip maybe 3 a week, just the ones for meat and the 5 for $10 deals, and my card does the rest. Yes, some stores still have real paper-only deals, I get that, but the popular advice to clip everything is just busywork. Anyone else find the paper game mostly pointless now, or am I missing a store that still honors the fat stack?
Wait, only $4.10 across six receipts? That is wild. Two years of cutting and sorting every Sunday for basically nothing is rough to hear. The cashier did you a huge favor honestly. I still grab the meat ones too but my card handles the rest now.
