Why does nobody talk about the Market Basket clearances at the closing bell
I stopped by the Concord Market Basket on Fort Eddy Road last Thursday around 7:45pm just to grab milk and walked out with a full cart for $22. The meat guy was marking down everything with a sell-by date of that same day, and the stickers were already half off, then the manager came through and hit the whole bin again with 50 percent off stickers stacked right on top. I got two packs of chicken thighs for $2.19 each, a pork tenderloin for $3.50, and a bag of shrimp for under $5. Here is the part that shocked me, I asked the guy if this happens nightly and he said the big markdowns hit weekdays between 7 and 8pm, not weekends, because weekend stock sells out on its own. I have been shopping Saturday mornings for years like a chump paying full price while Thursday night people are feasting. So my hot take is that early birds are getting fleeced and the night crew crowd is eating like kings for pocket change. Does anyone know if the other locations run the same schedule or is this just a Fort Eddy thing?
