Dropped $340 on a meal kit subscription in Denver, cancelled after 5 boxes, here is the math
So I signed up for one of those meal kit things back in January. First box was a promo, like $30 for 3 meals. Cool. Then the real price kicked in, $78 a box for 4 meals for 2 people. I ran the numbers on my grocery receipts and I was paying almost 3x per serving versus just buying the same stuff at King Soopers. Plus half the produce showed up limp. I cooked at a busy restaurant for 9 years, I know what a fresh pepper looks like.
The kicker was the cancellation, took me 3 tries on their site and they still shipped one more box. I called and got it refunded but that was a 22 minute hold. Total damage around $340 once you count the box I couldn't stop.
If you are on the fence, do the math on cost per serving first. Anyone actually found one of these that beats grocery store prices without a promo code? I am not holding my breath.
