Scored $60 off my grocery bill with a simple price match trick

I was at the checkout line at Kroger last week and the lady in front of me pulled out her phone to show the cashier a Target ad. They knocked $60 off her total just by matching the price on stuff like eggs and cereal. I tried it myself this morning at the same store with a Walmart ad for chicken and saved $12 on a $50 trip. Has anyone else had luck price matching at bigger chains? It feels like a hidden cheat code.

Yeah the "hidden cheat code" thing is exactly how I felt when I first tried it. I price matched some laundry detergent at Walmart with a Target ad last month and walked out with like $18 back in my pocket. It's wild how easy it is once you actually do it, feels like you're getting away with something.

Yo that's actually annoying. Price matching is great and all but if everyone starts doing it they might kill the policy like they did with double coupons back in the day. I used to work retail and managers hated when people actually took advantage of the deals. It's nice you saved money but keep it on the down low.
