Unpopular opinion: the unit price tag saved me $23 at the Target in Round Rock
Honestly I always ignored those little price per ounce stickers until I actually did the math on laundry detergent. The big jug looked like a deal at $19.99 but when I checked the tag it was 14 cents an ounce, while the smaller $11.49 bottle was 9 cents an ounce. Walked out with two small ones and saved about $23 over the big size, which kind of blew my mind in the aisle. Does anyone else check those tags or am I the weirdo standing there dividing numbers on my phone?
Ha, not a weirdo at all, but hold on, two small bottles at 9 cents an ounce is 18 cents an ounce total, and the big jug was 14. You'd need three small ones to match the big jug's ounces, so the math only works out if you were comparing the same amount. That said, the per ounce tag is still worth checking since the big size isn't always the better deal.
