DAE hit a weird number like 137 handshakes at one Detroit event and start rethinking the whole thing?

So I went to that big networking thing at the Masonic Temple in Detroit two weeks ago, and I counted 137 handshakes by the end of the night because someone dared me to keep track. The number itself is random, but around 80 I noticed I was just repeating the same five second speech about what I do and getting the same blank nods back. After that I started asking people what bar they go to instead of what they do, and three actual conversations came out of it. I guess I am wondering if anyone else has a number like that where the whole thing flipped for them. What is your cutoff before you ditch the pitch and just talk to people like humans?
