Stumbled on a stat about Detroit business meetups that caught me off guard
I was digging through old city records last week for a side project and found out Detroit had over 200 active business networking groups in the 1950s. That surprised me because I figured it was maybe half that. Now with all the online stuff, I bet the number is way lower but the quality might be better. Has anyone else noticed how the old-school chambers of commerce events feel different from the newer industry specific ones?

Totally get what you mean. It's a bummer seeing how much face to face networking has faded, but at least the ones that are left seem to actually matter.

OH wow, that stat about 200 groups in the 50s really puts things in perspective. So you're saying the OLD events felt more like a chore, but the new ones actually have a point? Are the industry-specific meetups producing better deals or just better conversation?
