I stopped pulling injectors with a pry bar after a guy in Amarillo showed me the socket trick
About 4 years back I was fighting a stuck injector on a 7.3 in my buddy's shop outside Amarillo and I was about to get the pry bar out like I always did. An old timer named Dale watched me cuss at it for 10 minutes and then just walked over and handed me a deep 12 point socket with a short extension. He said crack the hold down bolt loose a quarter turn, leave the socket on it, and crank the engine over for half a second. The compression pops the injector right out of the bore before you even know what happened. I thought he was nuts but it worked on the first try and I have done it that way on every stubborn injector since. The only thing you gotta watch is not letting it launch across the shop, so I keep a rag over it now. Still use the pry bar for the easy ones but that trick has saved me from chipping a head more than once. Any of you guys got a old timer trick like that you still use every week?
