Reading a tech article about the new Ford Powerstroke, I was shocked to see its high-pressure fuel pump can hit over 36,000 psi.

Found that stat in a deep-dive on the Diesel Power magazine website, and now I'm wondering if anyone's had to rebuild one of those monsters yet.

That 36,000 psi stat is wild. I mean, it just feels like everything is getting pushed to these insane limits now. My phone charger is supposed to be faster than last year's, my internet plan has a bigger number, even the pressure washer I bought for my driveway has a higher psi rating than my old one. It's like we're in this race where the specs just keep climbing, but I don't even know what half of them mean for actually using the thing.

Completely understand that feeling of being buried in numbers. I read that same stat and just pictured a tiny pump working harder than my whole house plumbing system. It makes you wonder what normal wear and tear looks like at those pressures, and what it costs to fix.
