Appreciation post: Learning to back up my work saved me from a major scare...

My hard drive crashed yesterday and I almost lost months of digital art... Now I use cloud storage and an external drive after every session, so nothing gets lost... How often do you back up your projects?

Of course your hard drive waited until you had months of art on it to fail, classic move. I lost a bunch of music files the same way and it stung for weeks. Now I backup like a crazy person because tech just loves to break at the worst time. Cloud storage and an extra hard drive are part of my daily routine, no questions asked. It feels silly until you need that saved file and actually have it. The little bit of effort saves so much headache later on.

Hey @parker_brown59, try the 3-2-1 backup rule: two local copies plus cloud.

My backup plan once failed too, the irony was painful.

Honestly, it's like hard drives have a built-in calendar to check how much important stuff you have before they quit. They see six months of work and just decide that's the perfect time for a permanent nap. After my own close call, my backup routine is basically a nervous tick now.
