My drawing teacher at a Toledo workshop said to pick ONE brush and never switch, and she was dead right
Went to a two day digital painting class in Toledo last spring and the instructor, Dana, made everyone lock their brush set to one hard round for the whole first day. I fought it hard because I love my texture brushes, but by hour six my shading got way smoother and I stopped wasting time hunting through panels. Now my whole sketch layer is just that one brush at 3 sizes. Has anyone else had a teacher force a limit on you like that, and did it stick or did you go back to your old setup?
Locking yourself to one brush forever sounds like a fast track to boring art. Sure the timer trick helps you stop scrolling panels, but texture is half the fun of painting, going full robot with one hard round would drive me nuts. I still keep my favorites on a hotkey and switch when the piece actually calls for it.
