Ran a time-lapse test on my 6 year old tablet and wow

Had this old iPad Air 2 sitting around and figured I'd try it as a time-lapse controller for a sunrise shoot. Used the free Lapse It app and it held up for 4 straight hours without crashing or overheating. Honestly saved me from dropping $300 on a dedicated intervalometer setup. Anyone else use old hardware for art projects like this?

Actually @diana_black22 that Galaxy S5 is more like 8 or 9 years old now, not 6... the S5 came out in 2014. Still cool that he's using it though, those old phones make great dedicated music players since they still have headphone jacks.

Love seeing people repurpose old tech instead of just tossing it. It's wild how much stuff we throw away that still works perfectly fine for basic tasks. My dad still uses his old Galaxy S5 as a dedicated music player in his workshop. I feel like we're finally getting to a point where people realize you don't need the newest thing for everything. A six year old tablet can still do time lapses, stream video, or act as a digital photo frame just as well as anything new. There's a whole movement around using cheap older devices for specific jobs and it makes so much sense.
