Rant: spent 11 hours on one piece for a client in Phoenix and they picked the 20 minute sketch
Last Tuesday I posted three versions of a poster design to my client in Phoenix, a full digital painting that took me 11 hours, a mid version, and a quick rough sketch I did in 20 minutes while waiting on my lunch. They wrote back within the hour and picked the sketch, saying the messy lines had more energy and the painted one looked like a stock photo. I get that clean finish is not always what people pay for, but it stings when a week of shading loses to a doodle, so how do you all handle it when the rough version wins?
