Turned off all phone notifications for 2 weeks, then turned 3 back on, and the difference is night and day
I used to have notifications for pretty much every app on my phone. Email, news, sports scores, shopping apps, all of it. One Sunday I counted 47 buzzes in a single afternoon and just felt sick of it. So I turned every single notification off for two weeks straight. The first few days I kept picking up my phone out of pure habit, but by the end I was checking it maybe 5 or 6 times a day total. Then I turned three back on: calls from my wife, texts from my kid's school, and my banking app for fraud alerts. That was it. The weird part is I did not miss a single thing that mattered. All those other alerts were just noise dressed up as urgent. My screen time dropped from 4 hours 20 minutes a day to 1 hour 50 minutes, and I did not even try that hard. Has anyone else done the notification purge and kept a short list instead of going all or nothing?
