I swore by coworking, until a hotel lobby changed my mind

I used to think coworking spots were key for getting tasks done while traveling. Hanging out in hotel lounges for a few weeks made me see they're often quieter and free. Am I the only one who now avoids paid shared offices?

The Conrad Hotel lobby in NYC got me hooked last year. You get big leather chairs, strong WiFi, and free sparkling water just for sitting there. Compared to a crowded coffee shop where you fight for outlets, it feels like a proper office without the membership fee. What other hotel chains have you found work well for this?

Have you ever stayed so long in a hotel lobby that the staff learns your coffee order? I camped out at a Hilton Garden Inn for a whole afternoon once, and I swear the front desk guy was counting my bathroom breaks. The nicer Westins usually have great setups with plenty of plugs, but you gotta dress the part or you stick out. It's like a secret club where everyone pretends not to know we're all freeloading on the wifi. Just remember to at least look like you could afford a room, or they'll gently ask you to move along...

Who knew free hotel spots beat paying for coworking?
