My garage door spring let go and I'm lucky the car wasn't in the way
Heard this loud bang around 6am on Saturday, thought a tree branch hit the roof. Walked out to grab coffee and saw the garage door sitting crooked with a coil of spring dangling off the bracket. The cable had snapped clean and whipped across the concrete, left a dent in the metal shelf where my lawn stuff sits. I knew enough not to mess with torsion springs after reading about those horror stories, so I called a local company out of Greenville and they quoted $380 to replace both springs. That felt steep but honestly, watching them work with those winding bars made me realize it's one of those jobs where the tools and know-how are worth the money. Has anyone here successfully done this themselves without losing a finger, or is this the one thing you always hire out?
