Pulled an old laptop apart with just a guitar pick, fixed it for free

Last week my 7 year old Toshiba started overheating and shutting down after 10 minutes. I watched a couple videos and figured the fan was clogged, but I didn't have any plastic spudgers. Used a clean guitar pick and a butter knife to pop the bottom panel off, took out this giant dust bunny the size of a marshmallow. Blasted the fan with canned air, put it back together, and it's been running cool all week. Has anyone else found random household stuff that works better than the actual repair tools?
