Used to replace screens by hand, now I just park my kid in front of a heat gun
Back in 2019 I would do phone screen swaps the slow way. Hair dryer, plastic spudger, 45 minutes of terrified prying on a Galaxy S8 that had more cracks than sense. Broke two AMOLED panels before I got one right. Fast forward to last Tuesday, my 9 year old needed a science fair project and I showed him the 3 minute heat gun and suction cup trick on an old iPhone 6. He did the whole swap by himself while I watched. He actually did it, zero dead pixels. Now I'm wondering if I should be embarrassed or just happy to have a tiny repair tech in the house. Anyone else let their kids loose on dead gadgets instead of doing it yourself? What's the youngest age you'd trust with an iOpener?

So how many screens did you crack before you handed him the tools?
