Was sure thermal paste was a scam, then my laptop hit 95C

I figured the factory stuff was fine forever, but after my old i7 started thermal throttling during a Zoom call in Austin, I spent $8 on paste and dropped 20 degrees. Anyone else have a 'trust the goop' moment that actually worked?

Paste is real. My gaming rig showed 88C in Warzone, one $11 tube later it sits at 70. The factory stuff dries out like old cheese. That 20 degree drop sounds about right. People sleep on the goop until the fans sound like a jet engine.
