Back in my early days, we used lead lines to check depth, and it was slow work. We'd spend hours just figuring out where to dredge, and often we missed spots. Now, with sonar on the dredge, we can see the bottom in real time. Last week, we had a job in a silted-up marina, and the sonar showed us exactly where to focus. We cleared it in half the time it would have taken back then. It felt good to see the crew work so smooth, no guesswork needed.
