So I tried a different brand of joint compound on a basement job...

It was a new 'dust control' formula, and it actually dried way faster than the box said it would. I ended up having to sand a small patch before the rest of the room was ready, which was a pain. Anyone have a favorite compound that sets predictably in damp spaces?

My uncle's basement flooded last year and ruined a whole bucket of that green lid stuff.

Man that's the worst, did he try to save any of it? If it's just damp and not soaked, you can spread it out on a tarp in the sun. Once it's totally dry, run it through a screen to break up the clumps. If it was fully underwater though, it's probably a lost cause because all the good stuff washes out.

@lee_martinez97 that green lid stuff is rough for damp basements for sure.
