Am I the only one who gets stuck behind the person treating the self checkout like it's a group project?

Yesterday at the Stop & Shop on Elm Street, a lady had 4 kids each scanning their own items and the machine kept yelling 'unexpected item' for 12 minutes before I just moved to a different lane.

Attempted to help my own two kids with self checkout and ended up blocking three aisles while the machine just screamed at a bag of oranges.

Parenting is seriously hard enough without adding a malfunctioning robot to the mix, that lady was probably just trying to get home before a meltdown happened. I had a similar situation at Walmart where a dad and his toddler were fighting over the barcode scanner and I just stood there nodding sympathetically for a solid five minutes. Sometimes you just gotta take a deep breath and remember we've all been that person at some point, even if it's annoying in the moment.
