Had to pick between a cheap tablet and a used Cintiq for my first real project

@uma_baker99 $60 Intuos 4 is a legendary find, bet it outlasts us all.

Used to think aerial archaeology was just rich people with drones

@paulw63 I'm still not sold on the hype though. Thermal cameras and lidar are cool tricks but they're just that - tricks. You still gotta dig to prove anything exists. All this fancy tech and people still miss obvious stuff right under their noses.

It took a data breach at my bank to make me stop reusing passwords

My credit union uses SMS codes now too, like a second lock.

Chat with a pipeline inspector on a barge last week made me question if I'm chasing the right certs

Got a buddy who did a six week hitch on a rig off Angola. Said he cleared almost thirty grand after his rotation. He spent the whole first week back buying rounds at every bar in town, had that drunk on cash look the whole time. But he also said you EARN it, like twelve hour shifts in a boiler suit soaked through with sweat and salt spray, holding a probe to a pipe that’s vibrating hard enough to rattle your teeth.

Shoutout to my first anvil from a garage sale, which went from a rusty doorstop to my main tool after 3 months of grinding and oiling.

I used to roll my eyes at the old-timer advice and figured I knew better. But after three months of elbow grease on that anvil, I gotta admit he was dead right. Sometimes you just gotta trust the guy who's been doing it for forty years.
