My water bill jumped $80 last month and nobody could figure out why

I noticed my bill went from $45 to $125 out of nowhere, so I called EPCOR and they sent someone out. Turns out my toilet flapper was stuck open just a tiny bit, leaking water down the drain for weeks. Has anyone else had a hidden leak that took forever to find?

My buddy Dave had a slab leak that took three plumbers to find.

Totally feel his pain. Took us three tries and a ton of drywall holes to figure out our slab leak last year. Ended up being a tiny pinhole in a copper pipe hidden under a closet floor. Plumber number three finally used a thermal camera and found it in ten minutes.

What @wendy72 said about the thermal camera is exactly what I read on a home inspector's blog, they swear by those things for finding hidden leaks. That flapper issue you had is way more common than people think, my neighbor had the same problem and it took him a month to notice because the leak was so slow. So frustrating when something as dumb as a piece of rubber can cost you that much money.
