Am I the only one who had a 90s Dover car top governor just snap on a routine inspection?

The cable whipped back and nearly took my thumb off last Tuesday because the old steel had crystallized right at the sheave, so has anyone found a good source for NOS parts on these or are we all just retrofitting with new kits now?

Remember my buddy's story about his governor cable snapping mid-test? He ended up just swapping the whole assembly for a modern retrofit kit.

Honestly that sounds terrifying, glad you kept your thumb. Tbh I've seen that exact failure on a few of the older Dover units. Ngl finding real NOS for those specific cables is a nightmare now. Are you dealing with the original riveted sheave assembly or has it been modified before? That changes what parts you can even use.

Ever think those old parts are actually easier to find?
