Blew a hydraulic line on a 20-story job in Boston today
Was doing a routine oil change in the machine room and the return line just gave out, sprayed oil all over the controller cabinet. Took me 4 hours to clean it up and re-terminate the wires that got soaked. Has anyone else had to deal with a line blowout on an old Schindler?

Whoa, that return line is low pressure not high pressure actually.

Come on man, the return line on a return style system still carries fuel pressure from the regulator back to the tank, it's not zero psi like a drain line. That line sees a constant 3-5 psi at idle and spikes way higher under boost when the regulator shuts down. Watch a pressure gauge on a return line sometime, it definitely pulses with the pump.
