Had a guy argue with me about his elevator being 'haunted' for 20 minutes

I was doing a routine inspection at a four story apartment building in St. Louis last Tuesday. This older tenant comes out and insists his elevator stops on the third floor every time, even if nobody presses the button. I checked the call station and found a loose wire in the third floor hall button that was sending ghost signals. He still wasn't convinced, even after I showed him the frayed copper. Has anyone else had to deal with customers blaming weird stuff on ghosts when it's just a loose connection?

Read somewhere that old wiring in St. Louis buildings acts up more when it's humid out.

Nah, but what if the guy actually had a point though? I mean yeah frayed copper is the obvious fix, but elevators in old buildings like that have a lot of weird electrical quirks. And @nathan_hill60 mentioned humidity, which is real in St. Louis - moisture can make wires act nuts in ways you don't expect. Maybe the guy felt a cold spot or heard a sound that wasn't from the loose wire, you know? I've seen enough ghost hunter shows to know people don't just make this stuff up for no reason lol.

@ericb66 you watch too many ghost hunter shows, a loose wire is just a loose wire.
