Had to pick between a peel and microdermabrasion for a client with rosacea
Walked into a tough spot last month when a regular client with mild rosacea asked me to help with some flaky patches but the texture was bothering her. I went back and forth on whether to do a gentle lactic peel or stick with microdermabrasion, knowing both could trigger a flare if I pushed too hard. I ended up going with the peel at a low concentration and held my breath through the whole 8 minutes. She had zero reaction and her skin looked calmer after two days, but now I'm second guessing if microdermabrasion would have given better resurfacing without the peeling downtime. Anyone else wrestle with this kind of choice for reactive skin?

Wait, you just let a peel sit on rosacea skin for a full 8 minutes? 8 minutes? That's a lifetime for reactive skin like that. I would have been pacing a hole in the floor watching the clock. You're braver than me, that's for sure. And it worked out fine? That's honestly wild, most rosacea cases I've seen would have thrown a fit in half that time. But hey, if it came out looking calm after two days, you might have stumbled onto something good.
