That time a client's skin reacted badly to a 'gentle' peel
I was in my treatment room in Phoenix, doing a lactic acid peel on a client who swore she had no sensitivity. About 3 minutes in, her skin went bright red and started stinging way more than normal. I stopped the peel immediately, neutralized it, and applied a cool compress with aloe. It calmed down after 20 minutes, but it was a clear sign her barrier was compromised from the start. Has anyone else had a client downplay their skin's condition before a treatment?

Man, is it just me or do people do this with everything now? I mean, not just skin, but like, downplaying how bad their back hurts before a workout or how little sleep they got. It's like we're all trying to seem tougher than we are, even to the person trying to help us. Makes you wonder why we can't just be honest about our limits.

Honestly, it's like they're trying to win a prize for having the worst skin. They'll swear it's fine right up until it starts glowing like a stoplight. Makes the whole job way harder than it needs to be.
