My kitchen sink was draining slow for months until I tried a baking soda trick

It was driving me nuts. Every time I did dishes, the water would just sit there, taking forever to go down. I was about to call a plumber, which would have cost at least a hundred bucks. Then I remembered something my aunt said once. I poured half a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by a cup of white vinegar. It foamed up like crazy for a good five minutes. After that, I ran hot water for a bit. The drain cleared right up and has been fine for three weeks now. Has anyone else fixed a slow drain with something simple like this, or did I just get lucky?

That's just a temporary fix though. It'll probably clog up again in a month. You really need a proper drain snake to clear out all the gunk.

My kitchen sink was like that last year. I tried the baking soda trick three times before I gave up. You're totally right about needing the real tool, those quick fixes just push the problem further down. Renting a snake from the hardware store was the only thing that finally worked.
