Showerthought: A crowded market changed my whole take on pattern mixing

I always stuck to solid colors in my designs because I thought mixed prints looked too busy. Then, on a trip to an outdoor market, I saw someone wearing a floral blouse with striped pants. It sounded weird, but it looked amazing and full of life. That made me stop and really look at how people put outfits together there. I noticed more combos like plaid with polka dots, and none of it felt wrong. So I tried sketching a skirt with chevron and animal print, just for fun. Now I see pattern mixing as a way to add personality to clothes. It's like breaking a silly rule I made up for myself.

My friend Emma saw a woman at a concert wearing plaid with floral last summer. She said it looked so put together she started mixing her own clothes. Now her wardrobe is way more fun.

Mixing plaid with floral sounds risky but @barbarac95's friend proved it can work really well.
