Shoutout to my old auger vs that rental I tried last Tuesday in Columbus

Been using my beat up one-man auger for three years and it always gets the job done. Rented a fancy two-man unit from the hardware store and it threw a chain after 12 holes in rocky clay. Has anyone else had a newer piece of gear just completely let them down on site?

Was it the rental company's poor maintenance or the design itself that caused the failure?

I used to trust new gear over old but that auger story totally flipped my thinking.
