Did your friend ever try the old way? He spent half a day fixing a fence because his string kept sagging, total waste of time. Going digital was the only thing that finally got it right.

My string sagged so bad last summer I almost built a modern art sculpture instead of a fence. Took me way longer than half a day to admit defeat.

Saw a video where a guy used fishing line instead of string. Said it doesn't sag as much in the heat. Might be worth a shot before buying new tools.
