inSo I found a weird way to get my appraisal to come in higher
Got a BPO on my last place that came in way too low. They just used some bad comps from a few streets over. Ended up selling for a lot more by getting a second opinion.

inMy compost pile went anaerobic and stank up the whole yard
Wait, you actually shredded cardboard for bedding? @the_david, I mean that sounds like it would be way too rough and dusty. Maybe it's just me but I can't see that being good for their little feet at all.

inUnpopular opinion: I used to skip thermal fuses until my coffee maker project
You said you've left them out and never had a problem. That's the thing, it's fine until it's not. I fixed a toaster oven where the old fuse was toast. If I'd just bypassed it, the next failure could have been the wiring melting or worse, a small fire. It's not about the repair working now, it's about what happens when the next part fails. Skipping it turns a simple breakdown into a real safety risk.
