Warning: I see a lot of new coders trying to run before they can walk with frameworks

I've been helping a friend learn to code for about three months now, and he keeps asking about React before he can even write a simple loop in plain JavaScript. I see this same thing all over beginner forums and videos. People watch a tutorial on building a flashy app with a popular framework and think that's the starting point. It matters because you end up with shaky basics, and every small problem becomes a huge roadblock. You don't understand why your code breaks, you just know how to copy and paste someone else's setup. I learned this the hard way myself a few years back when I tried to skip ahead to Django without really knowing Python. How do you convince someone to slow down and learn the core language first?

Choosing between a new probe and a second-hand tool setter back in 2011

The shop I was at gave me a budget of $2,500 to either buy a brand new touch probe for our mill or a used Renishaw tool setter from a shop closing down. I went with the tool setter because it let us set tools offline while a part was running. It took a week to get it dialed in, but it cut our setup time by almost half on repeat jobs. Anyone still running an older tool setter like that, or have they all been swapped for newer models?

Had a turbo let go on a 6.7 Powerstroke right after a full service

Just finished a big service on a customer's truck yesterday, new filters and oil, the whole deal. Fired it up and heard this awful grinding noise from the turbo side before it even got warm. Pulled the intake pipe and the compressor wheel is just gone, pieces missing. Feels bad because the customer is gonna think I did something wrong, but it was just its time to go, I guess. Anyone had a turbo fail that quick after working on something?
