Why does nobody talk about using a transit level for fence posts

Old timer at the supply yard told me to ditch my string line and use a transit level for post alignment, I thought he was crazy. Tried it on a 200ft run in Austin and every post came out dead straight first try. Has anyone else switched from string to a transit?

One thing people miss is that a transit level handles elevation changes way better than string. On my last 300 foot run in West Texas, the ground dropped almost 2 feet across the property. With a string, I would have been fighting gravity and wind all day, but with the transit, I just set it up, shot the grade, and every post sat perfectly on the level line regardless of dips. Plus, you don't have to deal with a string sagging in the heat or getting knocked over by a gust. Have you noticed any issues with glare on the lens when you work in direct sun?

Heck yeah, that's wild... a transit level for fence posts? I never even thought of that, but it makes perfect sense for a long run like that.
