Why does nobody talk about using wood filler on laminate flooring?
I tried patching a scratch on my laminate floor with wood filler last month because that's what my dad always used. Big mistake. It dried hard and cracked right out after 3 days because laminate expands different than real wood. I learned you gotta use a color-matched wax stick or a laminate repair kit instead. The wood filler was $4 at Home Depot in Phoenix but it just made things worse. Now I'm stuck with a bigger gap than the scratch I started with. Has anyone else found a fix that actually stays put on laminate?

Oh man, wood filler on laminate... that's a lesson I learned the hard way too. Mine cracked so bad it looked like a spiderweb after a week. I ended up using a laminate touch-up kit with the little wax crayons, and it's been holding up surprisingly well through my clumsy vacuuming. The trick is to heat the wax a bit before pressing it in, then scrape off the excess with an old credit card. Still looks a little messy up close but way better than that gap you're left with...

Wait, you gotta heat the wax up first? I've been just jamming it in cold like a dummy lol. Maybe that's why my fix never looked right.
