Velcro strips saved my desk cables for under $5

My desk was a mess with cables everywhere. I tried cable sleeves but they were too stiff and expensive. Picked up a roll of reusable velcro strips at the dollar store for like $3. Now I bundle my monitor and phone cables together cleanly. Has anyone found a better way to keep charging cables from tangling?

Wait, you actually stick the velcro right ON the cables? Dude, that's wild to me. I just wrap the velcro strip around the whole bundle of cables loose so I can pull one out if I need it. Sticking it directly on would drive me insane the first time I wanted to move a wire. But hey, if it works for you, that's cool. I'm just picturing peeling sticky residue off every cable later and that sounds like a nightmare.

Do you stick the velcro right on the cables or do you wrap them around the bundle loosely?

Oh gosh, I totally get where you're coming from but I have to respectfully disagree on the sticky part! I actually stick the velcro strips right onto the cable jackets (the raised strip part, not the fuzzy part) and I've never had a residue problem. Maybe it depends on the brand you get? The dollar store ones I've used peel off clean even after months. But I see your point about wanting to move wires easily - I just keep a little slack in my bundles so I can still pull a cable out without unsticking anything. Different strokes for different folks I guess, as long as the cables aren't a tangled mess on the floor!
