Subfloor moisture checks are a must, no excuses
Skipping them leads to blown budgets and mad clients, lmao. Do it right or don't do it at all.

My cousin's tile job cracked for the same reason, like barbarac95 said.

You're right about "do it right or don't do it at all." A buddy of mine skipped the moisture check on a big basement job to save a day. The vinyl plank flooring they installed buckled within a month. He ended up eating the whole cost of the tear-out and redo.
