TIL a regular customer's garden dahlias are now part of my flower stock
This spring, a longtime customer brought in dahlias from her backyard. She had too many and offered them for our shop. We used them in a few arrangements, and people really liked the fresh look. It started chats with other florists about local flower sources. Now I'm looking into more partnerships with home gardeners. Has anyone else tried this? I want to know if it helped your business.

In my neighborhood, we trade homegrown zinnias all summer.

Huh, that sounds nice. My block doesn't really do that kind of thing, feels like everyone keeps to themselves. I guess neighborhoods are just different like that.

Our new neighbors bringing over pumpkin bread totally changed my view on that, @west.blake.
